Project 1: Prescription's Scanner

Context

When? Where? Who? Why?

Being sick can be very challenging when you do not live in your home country. In fact, the doctor you might go to does not know anything about your past prescription or your sickness history. Moreover, you might have difficulties understanding your prescription which is in another language you are not familiar with.

Many persons abroad have difficulties understanding their prescriptions which can create a lot of misunderstandings. Those misunderstandings can also lead to a bad treatment and worsening of the patient's condition. Our objective is to find a solution to help the patient and the doctor better understand each other.

Target

For whom?

This project will be intended for both the patient and the doctor. In fact, the application will work both ways. The doctor will need it to have the history of its patient and to better understand why the patient is sick and what treatment to use. For the patient, the application will be used to understant the prescription the doctor gave him and to what treatment it corresponds in his home counrty.

Service offered

What? How?

The application will be a presciption's scanner. The user will take a picture of his prescription, using the application, which will then be translated in the language he chose. After doing so, the prescription will be registered in the apllication to create a medical history of the patient. Moreover, the doctor will be able to write comments on the consultation. Thanks to this service, the application will not only be needed abroad but can also be used in the user's home country. In fact, if the patient wants to change for another doctor, for example, it will not be a problem anymore. The patient's history will be stored in the application and there will be no need to worry about any mistake.

Project 2: DNA Sequencer

Context

Researches in sciences are at the origins of the biggest improvements in our societies. From finding a vaccine to save billions of lives or understanding the evolution of species, it permits to better understand how the world we belong to works. In the medical or biological sector, there is a huge step needed for all studies that is so time consuming that it could put a real brake on progress. Indeed, the sequencing of DNA is crucial when you try to understand how an organism works, or why there are differences between two living beings.

DNA is the source code of each entity that exists on earth including humans, animals, plants, bacterias and viruses. It is composed of two polynucleotide chains that coil around each other to form a double helix. Each chain is composed itself by four different nucleotides: cytosine [C], guanine [G], adenine [A] or thymine [T].

The unique chaining of these four molecules explains the uniqueness of each life being. A group of nucleotides which trig a specific trait is called a gene. Thus, by decoding DNA, we can learn a lot on organisms. By the way, the first step to study the COVID was the sequencing of the DNA of the virus. When you know the code of an illness, you can more easily find a way to counteract its effects.

Target

Florent is a young French scientist working into the biological area. He is currently in Canada for his thesis. His main task is to analyse zebra fish genes and then to identify parts similar to human DNA. Zebra fish is called a “model”, that means that it is used in many laboratories to study several concepts that could be then transferred to humans, such as new medicine searches, understanding how a disease functions. This fish has many expressed genes and share with humans a big part of its DNA. Yes, it could sound weird but can be explained by the common origin vertebrates have. Thus, data available on AcidCloud could be more than useful for Florent or other researchers that would like to have access to the zebra fish DNA without going fishing. Thanks to AcidCloud, Florent is working on making human living longer and can spend all his time on that topic without the burden of sequencing!

Service offered

Thus, our idea is to create a huge database that would contain the DNA of all species that have be sequenced, as well as all the diseases, virus and bacterias ! This data base would be available on an online app that would classify the DNA according to life characteristics. Researchers would have access to a description of the entity and to the last new info all that added to the DNA. This service could allow to gain a lot of time and make progress faster thanks to the global cooperation of scientists.
